6 Tutorship  You are a tutor at Åbo Akademi University, not just within the program  Activities especially at the beginning of Autumn  The student tutor is available the whole academic year – …of course depending on how the new students are doing  Orientation week (domestic students and exchange students) week 35  Orientation Day Monday 3 September for international degree students

7 Being a tutor  Choose working methods that suit your own personality  Good to choose a theme for each group meeting (NB tutor check list) – Campus tour – MinPlan and web information – Visit to library/libraries  Also individual face-to-face discussions – especially if the student seems to avoid ’big’ social events  E-mail, phone – make sure your students have your contact information and that you have theirs
