1 E-MENTORING Introduction The UNC Online Mentoring system provides the means for users to connect with program approved mentors. This presentation will demonstrate the workflow for each of the different roles involved in making the mentoring process successful. Browse to https://devservices.northcarolina.edu/QAhttps://devservices.northcarolina.edu/QA An click on the e-Mentoring Tab. Follow this guide to learn the functionality and responsibilities associated with each role. Role: Program Manager Configures the settings for the program Invites/manages potential mentors Manages agreements between mentor and mentee. 2 Mentee Mentees will choose the UNC Members tab. Then choose your campus. You will be taken to your local campus Login Screen. Use your campus credentials (ID and Password) to login. You will be returned to the e-Mentoring System Role: Mentee – Logging In

3 When logging in for the first time I’ll need to “opt in” to the system. Role: Mentee Then I’ll provide some basic information about myself.

4 My Program Manager has invited me to participate in the E- Mentoring program. First I’ll log in to “My Services”. Role: Mentee Once logged in I see all of the programs I am involved in that I can find mentors for under the E-Mentoring area. For each program there are two tabs, Docs & Management and Mentor.

5 Role: Mentee Under “Docs & Management” there are my instructions and documents for the program. Also my editable profile appears below. Under “Docs & Management” there are my instructions and documents for the program. Also my editable profile appears below. To find a mentor for this program I simply click “Find A Mentor Now”. The address I entered when I opted in to the system is already populated so I can find a mentor in my area.

6 Role: Mentee – Find a Mentor The “Find a Mentor” form will help me filter through potential mentors. I can click “More Search Options” to tailor my search further. 7 Role: Mentee – Find a Mentor The search results display several choices. Some mentors are even available for “One Time Consultation”. To view more detailed information about each mentor I click the View icon. A mentor’s personal details are only made available when they accept an agreement. When I find the mentor I want I’ll click: “Ask for a One Time Consultation” - I’ll send the mentor a quick message. “Choose This Mentor” - I’ll begin the process of a formal mentoring agreement. 8 Role: Mentee – Find a Mentor > Agreement I’d like to enter a formal mentoring agreement. I will confirm my information and look over the disclaimers and guidelines. 9 Role: Mentee – Find a Mentor > Agreement Now I can review the details of my agreement. The proposal has been sent to the potential mentor for approval. 10 The “Mentor” tab available in each program shows the details of my mentoring agreements including the status. Some agreements require the Program Manager’s approval as well as the mentor.
