2 Sailors in theater can be involuntarily extended in theater no more than 14 days to minimize the impact of a gap in their billet. SECDEF policy states NO member will be extended beyond 14 days of their original end of Boots on Ground without SECDEF approval. Additionally, NO member will be involuntarily extended past 365 days Boots on Ground without SECDEF approval. Additionally, USFOR-A has issued guidance stating tour lengths will remain unchanged as a result of any type of administrative absence to include NCR&R and Emergency leave. 3 Active and Reserve Component Sailors are ordered to theater to fill specific validated requirements. Upon arrival of their Noble Eagle relief (not a relief assigned by another service), Sailors will not be held in theater beyond the 14 day turnover period regardless of their original redeployment date. Holding a Sailor in excess of 14 days is a violation of OPNAV policy with regard to manning levels and “Double-Stuffing” Billets. For more information regarding this topic click here. The projection can be found on the member’s orders in the form of estimated Boots on Ground or TDY length. Members are eligible to receive 15 days non-chargeable leave not to include travel time. The leave will start the day after they arrive at their requested destination and will end when they return to their point of departure airport. Member’s will need an approved Navy Leave chit for which we will assign a Leave Control Number (LCN). Without this LCN you will be considered UA! Don’t leave for home without it!Navy Leave chitwe Members may NOT take their weapons with them out of theater, but they MUST have their front and rear body armor plates.
