Our solar system is located in the Milky Way Galaxy. All of the eight planets orbit,or revolve around the Sun. By Alivia Bentley SOLAR SYSTEM
The sun’s core is 27,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit. “Sol" means sun. The sun is larger than all eight planets combined.
Mercury is one of the inner planets. This planet is the closest to the Sun.
The atmosphere is made out of carbon dioxide. Venus is almost the same size as Earth.
Earth is the third planet from the Sun. Earth is the only planet with organisms, or living things.
People use rovers to see what Mars is like. Mars has huge volcanoes and is home to Olympus Mons. Mars is nicknamed “The Red Planet.”
The asteroid belt is between Mars and Jupiter. Asteroids orbit the Sun.
Ganymede, Jupiter’s Moon, is bigger than Mercury and Pluto. A day on Jupiter is 9 hours and 55 minutes in Earth Ti me.
Saturn has rings. Saturn was named after a Roman god.
Uranus is a gas planet like Saturn and Jupiter. Uranus is nicknamed the “Ice Giant.”
Neptune is four times the size of Earth. Hurricanes move ten times faster on Neptune than on Earth. Neptune has the most violent weather.
Pluto is a Dwarf Planet. One year on Pluto is 90,465 days. Pluto has two moons which are Charon and Nix.
Halley’s Comet, the most well known comet, may return again in 2061. Comets come from the Oort Cloud and Kuniper Belt.
Black Holes are similar to vacuum cleaners. A black hole has 3 main parts.
