3  Once the student is exited from the program, he or she has to be monitored for a period of two years.  Once the student has been monitored for two years, he or she becomes “LZ.”

4 TTTThe ESOL Contact should review the blue insert to make sure that all the paperwork is in order and everything pertinent to the student’s ESOL history is in the file. IIIIt’s important that report cards reflecting the monitoring period of two years be included in the blue insert.  A A A All four LF monitoring dates also need to be entered on the mainframe. 6 From LY to LZ YYYYou have now learned what happens when a student’s ESOL status changes from  L L L LY (ELL student receiving ESOL strategies) to LLLLF (former ELL student, exited with in two years) and finally to LLLLZ (former exited ELL student who has been monitored as an LF student for two years).

7  When being audited, an auditor can ask for the files of LZ students and can cite findings if these files are not in order.  For new students transferring to your school, it is recommended to thoroughly check the blue inserts and make sure that all important documents have been included. Please check that all 4 LF monitoring dates have been entered on profile.
