3 3 Cardmember Number Masking Objective: By the end of this lesson, you will understand and be able to execute your options for masking full or partial American Express Cardmember numbers in CAR.

4 4 Cardmember Number Masking – Important Steps Masking all or part of your American Express Cardmember numbers provides additional control over how to use and share data more safely, especially when third parties are involved. This data privacy capability is optional, and we recommend that you analyze your needs and then determine your companys Cardmember Number Masking preferences. 1. 1.First read through this deck to understand your options. 2. 2.Second analyze your companys needs to determine your preferences 3. 3.Third call the CAR Help Desk with your masking preference, and they will set your preferences for all sites under each Remit Number.

Select one option per remit. After selecting an option, call the CAR Help desk and they will set them up. The changes will take place immediately.

6 6 Lesson 2: Verifying Your Mask - Login Screen There are several places you can check to verify that Cardmember masking is in effect. Begin at the Login Screen. Cardmember Numbers appear on each individuals profile. Click on Update Profile.

7 7 Lesson 2: Verifying Your Mask - Login Screen Verify that the numbers appearing are masked with the option you selected.

8 8 Lesson 2: Verifying Your Mask CAR End User Application - Accounts & Cycles Tab In the CAR End User Application on the Accounts & Cycles Tab, there are two places you will notice the Xs in place of the actual Cardmember Number.

9 9 Lesson 2: Verifying Your Mask CAR End User Application – Card Data Tab In the CAR End User Application on the Card Data Tab, there are also two places you will notice the Xs in place of the actual Cardmember Number 1) At the top of the screen and as a column. 2) The column list is optional, and more commonly used for BCA or Accounting Manager roles. Note: In the view for the Accounting Manager role, the Cardmember Numbers are already masked except the last 4 digits, this will not change, regardless of how you have set masking for the other roles. In addition, your Cardmember Numbers will also be masked, when you export, print or search.

10 10 Frequently Asked Questions 1.What if I do nothing? Everything will stay the same as it is today. Your Card Numbers will default to no masking, which means the actual Card Number will show in CAR. (i.e., 378712341981234) 2.At what level are Cardmember Numbers masked? We are setting up Masking by Remit Number. 3.Who does this affect? Your CAR Users, specifically, Cardmembers, Cardmember Managers and BCA Managers will all be affected. These three roles will notice a change, and see masked numbers. Accounting Manager roles will not be affected. Today they see all Cardmember numbers masked except for the last 4 digits, and this will not change. 4.Are Cardmember numbers masked within the System Administration Application? No. Card Numbers are only masked within the CAR End User Application. 5.Will my exported data from the CAR End User Application be masked? Yes. If you click Export, the Cardmember number field will be automatically masked per your set up. 6.Will my extract files or Interface File Builder (IFB) files be masked? No. All of the files for your ERP or GL interface will remain the same as they are today, no change. 7.What other functions are affected? Searching and Printing will have masked numbers too.
