Little is known about his early life. He was hired by the Muscovy Company in 1607. He was hired to find a waterway from Europe to Asia.
Hudson sailed for the country of England, and for the Dutch. He made around 3 big voyages.
He made a trip in 1607, looking for a water way to Asia, but instead discovered Jan Mayan Island.( A tiny Island by Greenland.) (His boat “Half Moon”)
In 1608 he sailed to Novaya Zemlya. (An island north of Russia in the Arctic.)
In 1609 he made his last voyage where he discovered the Hudson Bay, Hudson River, and is credited with discovering New York.
Henry Hudson is credited with discovering New York. He is, also, credited with discovering the Hudson Bay and the Hudson River.
We learned that Henry Hudson discovered New York, took several voyages, and sailed for the Dutch. We found that, surprisingly, Hudson sailed for the Dutch, even though he was from England. We already knew that he discovered the Hudson Bay and Hudson River. We think this explorer was very important because he discovered many things.
