Henry Hudson H enry was born in 1565. During Henrys lifetime he went on four dangerous and difficult voyages looking for Northeast route to India. The first three voyages Henry went on were not very successful. On the fourth voyage he decided not to turn back and head home but instead kept going.
What countries did he sail for? Henry sailed for English and Dutch merchants.
About his Adventures…. Henry explored the Arctic Ocean in the far north and to the northeastern North America and Canada.
Places in America he explored Henry also, explored what is now the Hudson River, Hudson Bay, and the Hudson Strait.
Why did he go on the voyages? Henry was hired in 1607 by Muscovy Company to lead ship Hopewell on an expedition north of the European continent in a effort to discover the North Eastern sea passage to the Spice Islands of the South Americas.
Continued… He also sailed because he wanted to spread Christianity.
What happened to Hudson? After four long journeys Hudson crew mutinied and stranded him and a few other in a small boat. That was the last timed anyone had seen them. Henry died June 22,1611. The cause of his death is unspecified. The remain are still thought to be lost at sea.
