4 SAFE PLACE TO LEARN One of our primary goals is to ensure that Hastings Middle School is a safe place to learn and belong All students must feel safe walking to school or riding the bus, in the hallways, classrooms, cafeteria, bathrooms and locker rooms.

5 What is Bullying? “Bullying is when someone repeatedly and on purpose says or does mean or hurtful things to another person who has a hard time defending himself or herself.”

6 WHAT CAN STUDENTS DO? TELL THEM TO STOP “Stop doing that! I don’t like it.” “Please stop. You are bullying me.” If you see it then say, “Stop picking on her!” or say, “Hey guys, let’s get out of here and do something else.” Tell an adult Tell a teacher, your parents, counselor, or principal If things don’t get better, then tell other adults until the bullying stops.
