2 The drought in the Horn of Africa had thrown the region into even more chaos. It was being called “the worst drought in north-east Africa for 60 years,” and population of some countries had more than doubled in the last 30-40 years. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) says that changing weather patterns have made droughts more common in the region.

3 Humanitarian aid, ingenuity, and rain all helped create a future of hope and relief for the 2011 drought in Eastern Africa.
