What was the name of the war that started in 1914 and ended in 1918? The first world war

What was the name of the revolution that happened in 1917 that changed the outcome of the war and where did it take place? The October Revolution or Communist Revolution (the second one in that country in that year) happened in Moscow, Russia and then spread throughout much of the country.

Who were the combatants and on which sides did they fight? The triple Entente was made up of France, England and America (of course Canada, New Zealand and Australia were in there too) and the Triple Alliance was made up of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy (who later entered on the side of the Entente because the Alliance was a defensive alliance)

What was the name of the peace conference and the treaty it produced that ended the war? The Paris Peace Conference sought to end the First World War and it produced the Treaty of Versailles

The Versailles Treaty is now regarded by many historians as laying the groundwork for the rise of what nationalist movement in Europe? Many historians consider the onerous and humiliating conditions placed on Germany to play a significant role in the rise of National Socialism in the 1930’s

What two large political groups competed for power in mid-1930’s Germany? The fascist National Socialist German Workers Party and the Communist Party fought in the political realm and in the streets to influence the voter and to obtain political power.

Were communist movements or parties common throughout Europe and North America? Yes. Virtually every western nation had either a significant socialist or communist group or party. In fact, by this time many westerners were spying for the Soviet Union, largely motivated by ideology.

What reasons might the western powers give for preparing to oppose the Soviet Union and communism at the end of the second world war.? The professed goal of spreading revolution throughout the world and overturning bourgeoisie capitalist regimes. The apparently expansionist control over eastern Europe as an overture toward that revolution.

What reasons might the Soviets give for preparing to oppose America and Capitalism at the end of the second world war.? A variety of remarks by western leaders identifying communism as a threat which must be defeated. Being attacked and having their economy destroyed twice in the first half of the century
