2 We Speak, We Act: Update ECSC & FC: May 9, 2014 We Speak, We Act: Update We Act Team: Drs. Bertha Garcia, Doug Jones, Mr. Dwayne Martins, Dr. Margaret Steele and Ms. Elana Whelan

3  Hire external facilitators for individual group meetings: Anne Becker from Pathways Consulting for Faculty & Janet Frood from Leadership Institute Inc. for Staff meetings  We Act Team met with Facilitators  Facilitators, Chairs and Directors engaged to ensure familiarity with the culture of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and develop specific questions related to the School’s activities  Meetings with Basic and Clinical Chairs and Directors in January-February November 1, 2013 ECSC - the We Act Plan will unfold in the following manner: We Speak, We Act: Update ECSC: January 10, 2014

4 Update: Faculty (Becker)  the purpose of We Act sessions is to attain input about what actions we must take together to improve how we manage change, provide recognition and fully engage our faculty with Schulich and Western University.  3 department faculty sessions to date (Anatomy & Cell Biology, Dentistry and Biochemistry) ~35 faculty have participated  participants have been engaged and forthright We Speak, We Act: Update

5 Update: Faculty (Becker)  dates for most other departments have been confirmed  all sessions to be completed by the end of June, 2014  after each session, Anne Becker will meet one-on-one with Department Chairs to help with departmental action plans / Schulich-wide action plans. We Speak, We Act: Update

6 Update: Staff (Frood)  using results from the We Speak survey, colleagues will identify actions to: Create the best possible work experience and culture; and Strengthen our capacity to help us achieve our departmental and faculty-wide goals  focus on how we want our work experience and culture to be going forward  input from all staff is encouraged regardless of whether or not they completed the survey We Speak, We Act: Update

7 Update: Staff (Frood)  group sizes range between 12 and 24 participants, 2 hours in length  8 sessions have taken place so far (1 Leaders group; 2 PMA groups; and 5 UWOSA groups)  8 sessions remain (1 AO group, 3 PMA groups, and 4 UWOSA groups)  the first session was held on April 2 nd - The final session is scheduled for June 18 th  approximately 170 staff have registered to participate We Speak, We Act: Update

8 Chairs and Directors: reinforce the need to maximize participation Group and Facilitators Reports will be finalized by end of July, 2014 Department Chairs will develop action plans. Schulich’s We Act Team to review and update Dean, Senior Leadership Council and ECSC Next Steps We Speak, We Act: Update ECSC: January 10, 2014
