4. Italian Students only take one big final exam at the end of the 5 th year, that extends over three days and it is made up of three tests, two written and one oral. In the oral exam, a commission of teachers asks you questions on every subject you have taken on your final year. LESAME DI MATURITA The first written test is an essay (Il tema). The topics of the essay are picked by the Ministry and are the same for every school in the country. The second written test pertains to the area of expertise that you are studying for.
