8 Typical Implementation Lifecycle
In a typical Implementation Lifecycle, A conference room pilot (CRP) instance is setup manually and data is refined through the forms. Then a gold instance or copy is made into a test and development instance. Work is performed and testing is being performed and refinement of the CRP instance is made when is has passed acceptance. As the lifecycle goes on, a date is set for Performance Assurance Testing and Training instance will be created. A date is then set for creation of the Production instance along with further refinement of setups and data in the CRP instance. A cutoff date set for CRP changes and then the Production instance is created and a Go Live date set. There can be several variations of the Lifecycle, but it will follow something as described above.

11 iSetup Functional Architecture
iSetup Configurator iSetup Configurator automates the initial setup of the Oracle E-Business Suite. It provides you with an intuitive business questionnaire. Based on your responses, it generates the detailed setup parameters and loads them into your E-Business Suite instance. iSetup Migrator iSetup Migrator, a new component in Release 11i.9, allows you to transfer setup parameters between different instances of the Oracle E- Business Suite. For example, you can migrate your setups from a conference room pilot environment to a production environment, while leaving behind test transactions and data. iSetup Reporter iSetup Reporter, a new component in release 11i.9, gives you the capability to report on setup objects, including the ability to generate a single, consolidated report of your entire configuration.

12 iSetup Configurator For initial implementation
Collects requirements by presenting business questions Derives setup options based on your responses Incorporates leading business practices into template data Loads all the setup data with the click of a button The iSetup for initial implementation is based on very simple concept. The concept is that you should be able to specify your requirements in a simple easy to answer way. Once your requirements are specified you should be able to do your setup without doing any additional steps. iSetup Configurator includes the following new features in Release 11i.9. Multiple Legal Entities And Business Group Support iSetup Configurator supports global companies that have multiple subsidiaries operating in different countries. iSetup Configurator automatically establishes multiple business groups and legal entities based on where your subsidiary companies operate around the globe. You can also share locations, calendars, charts of accounts, and sets of books between your organizations. iSetup will even generate multiple sets of books for your global accounting needs automatically based on Oracle leading practices. For smaller companies, iSetup streamlines the setup further with a fully-defaulted business structure and accounting setup. Enhanced Organization Structure Wizard The HR Organization Structure Wizard walks you through step by step to set up complex work structures for your organization that includes Operating Companies, Legal Entities and Business Groups. Improved Load Restart Process This release of iSetup simplifies the load process. If your load process fails, you can restart the load from a simple user interface. iSetup keeps track of what setups have already loaded successfully and continues from where it left off.

13 Configurator Architecture
iSetup.oracle.com iSetup Configurator Configurator Database User Packaged Configuration File The main iSetup user interface runs on the web at isetup.oracle.com. The iSetup Loader and APIs run inside your applications instance. The two parts of iSetup communicate with each other over the web. You use a standard web browser to answer the interview questions and create a configuration. You can do this even if your hardware is not yet installed. When your hardware is ready and you have installed the E-Business Suite, run the iSetup Loader concurrent program to populate the setups directly into the database. The iSetup Loader connects to isetup.oracle.com and downloads your configuration automatically. E-Business Suite iSetup Loader API Repository APIs Setup Tables

14 Saved Configurations We will cover some of the basics of the iSetup Configurator web screens from logging on to saved configurations. I will walk through a live demo of the Configurator and setups.

15 Incomplete Configuration
When completing a configuration, you will notice the items marked in Red either has an error or needs to be completed. You will want to drill down to the lowest level of the tree where the errors show up and complete these items. Once they have been validated, the Red asterisk will go away. Once they have all been removed, it is almost ready to be generated a configuration.

16 Status of Incomplete Other errors may popup in a window with an explanation of what needs to be completed. When these have all gone away and saved successfully, a configuration can be generated.

17 Configuration Download
This is a sample of the files that are generated in the zip file from a successful configuration. We will generate on so you will be able to view this part of the generation. It is time to do a Live Demonstration. (DEMO)

19 Recommended Database Topology
This is a map of the recommended Database Topology. The Central Instance is where you will control gathering information from a source instance and migrate it to a target instance. The Central Instance can hold the migrations and reports gathered from the other instances to use as an Audit Trail.

20 Use this button to create a Mapping
Database Mapping Use this button to create a Mapping We will go through some of the Administration web pages to see how to map and maintain the database instances.

21 Creating Database Mapping
A dbc file will need to exist on the Central Instance for any SID The main requirement is that the dbc file generated on the other instances be copied to the Central instance for mapping.

22 Update Database Mapping
The dbc file and SID will be validated for creating the mapping

23 iSetup Migrator Automates moving of setup data from one instance to another Generates additional setup data based on existing data. For example: Create a new Accounting Calendar Create a new Chart of Accounts The iSetup for initial implementation is based on very simple concept. The concept is that you should be able to specify your requirements in a simple easy to answer way. Once your requirements are specified you should be able to do your setup without doing any additional steps. iSetup Migrator includes the following features in Release 11i.9. Pre-Defined Selection Set Templates for Creating Snapshots iSetup Migrator allows you to choose what setup objects to migrate by providing you with a number of pre-defined selection sets. A selection set is a set of related objects that support common business needs. You can also choose what subset of records you want to migrate by setting filter conditions. For example you can migrate a specific set of books or all the setups for a specific operating unit. iSetup saves the extracted setup data as a Snapshot, which allows you to conveniently load the extracted setup data to multiple target instances. Data Transformation During Load Prior to loading extracted setup data, you can perform certain data transformations on the extracted data. You can change the record name to create a new record and assign a new parent to the record. For example, you can clone an inventory organization and assign it to a different operating unit. Flexible Architecture You can run iSetup Migrator from an instance that is different from your source and target instances. iSetup has visibility to all the E-Business Suite instances running on your network, allowing you to manage your migrations from a single point.

24 Migrator Architecture
Source Instance iSetup Exporter iSetup Migrator UI Data Model APIs User Setup Tables Packaged Configuration File Migrator UI runs on your internal network either in a dedicated instance or in one of your live instances. You choose the source instance, choose the objects you want to migrate, and specify object filter criteria. iSetup Exporter calls the APIs for each object and generates a packaged configuration file on the source instance. The iSetup Loader runs on the target instance, reads the configuration file, and calls the APIs in the correct sequence to populate the data. The Packaged Configuration File is the same format as used by iSetup Configurator (zip file containing one XML file per object). Target Instance iSetup Loader Data Model Setup Tables APIs

25 Create Migration Selection Set
Create a selection set from a predefined Template After we create migration selection sets from the predefined templates, we can migrate part or all of the information. I will demo this after we cover some of the information in the migration phase.

26 More Migration Selection Sets
There are currently 14 pre-defined templates There are currently 14 pre-defined templates to choose from. After we extract information from a source instance, we can load or migrate it to a target instance.

27 Migration Selection Sets
The options are delete a selection set, duplicate, update or run extract.

28 Review Extract Selection Set
Select a source instance to extract data from and continue.

29 Submit Extract Selection Set
For a Financials or Discrete Manufacturing Extract, you may want to schedule for a later run On the larger extracts, like a full Financials or Discrete Manufacturing extract, you may want to schedule it for a later run. These extracts will take some time to complete.

30 Migration Extracts You can download to your local system or permanently delete the snapshot The extract snapshot can be downloaded to your local system or left in a central instance for an audit trail.

31 View Extract Details This is the extract page you can view the log or download the snapshot.

32 Download Migration Snapshot

38 iSetup Reporter Report on Setup data
Maintain snapshots for later reference Compare setup data across instances Compare setup data at different times The iSetup for initial implementation is based on very simple concept. The concept is that you should be able to specify your requirements in a simple easy to answer way. Once your requirements are specified you should be able to do your setup without doing any additional steps. The iSetup Reporter includes the following features in Release 11i.9. Multiple Report Formats iSetup Reporter allows you to generate reports in text or HTML format. You can save these reports to your desktop or send them directly to printers. The HTML option allows you to browse your configuration details by setup object. Report On Snapshot Or Configuration Data iSetup Reporter allows you to generate reports from the Snapshot created during an extract. You can also report on a Configuration you created with iSetup Configurator, even before you load it into your Oracle E-Business Suite instance.

39 Reporter Architecture
Source Instance iSetup Exporter Data Model APIs User Setup Tables Reporter leverages the iSetup architecture by launching the extractor for the objects you specify and then transforms the XML output into HTML reports you can view online or print. The comparison mode compares two configuration files and reports on the differences. iSetup Reporter Packaged Configuration File Reports
