4 SOL Grade 5 Writing Online Testing Schools select one day for the Multiple Choice test and one day for the Short Paper prompt within the test administration window: March 10-21, 2014. Make up and small group sessions may be held at any time within this testing window.

5 R6-08-004 GUIDELINES FOR SOL TESTING RELATED TO ELECTRONIC DEVICES Personal electronic devices are not to be brought into an SOL testing room during an SOL test administration. A personal electronic device brought into an SOL testing room must be turned off, labeled and turned into the testing administrator prior to test administration. Failure to comply will result in immediate dismissal from the testing session.

6 R6-08-004 R6-08-004 GUIDELINES FOR SOL TESTING RELATED TO ELECTRONIC DEVICES If a student is discovered to be in possession of a personal electronic device after commencement of a testing session: – Testing materials will be collected – Student will receive a zero for that test and will not be able to retest in that content area during that testing window. Devices will be confiscated and searched. – Additional disciplinary consequences will be administered if evidence of cheating is discovered on the personal electronic device.

7 Test Equity The following procedures are designed to ensure that all students take the SOL test under consistent and equitable testing conditions. Practices must be uniform across the Division. – Snacks: No snacks are permitted during the SOL testing session (as suggested by VDOE). Rationale: Potential distractions, cheating by writing on snack containers, not equitable, damage to computers

8 Test Equity SOL test must be completed within one instructional day (as dictated by VDOE). No extended time is to be provided. Once the final bell rings, the following must occur: – Parent is called to select one of the following: Student will submit test as is Student will retest on another day taking the alternate form of the test – Rationale: Equitability for all HCPS students

9 Test Equity Testing Breaks – Lunch is the only official testing break that may occur. Students that are given a lunch break during testing must be closely supervised to endure that no conversation occurs that is related to the SOL test being administered. – No scheduled breaks are permitted. – Individual student breaks may be administered, as needed. Close supervision must be provided.

10 Collaboration of Testing Teams Online testing teams include administration, School Test Coordinators, TSTs and ITRTs at the minimum. Collaboration between and among these team members is critical. 11 Testing Support New STCs have been assigned experienced mentors to assist and support their efforts. During testing windows, there is always a member of the R&P testing team available on location at Central Office.
