Corrosion Conversion and Prevention Program for UST Sumps & Leak Detectors Presented By – The Grapple Hook Group Distributors of Iron Ox Products All Products are Nonflammable 1 Minimal Power Tools Required
Before Treatment Corrosion on Copper as well. Good idea to remove water 2
Before Treatment – Multiple types of corrosion 3
Before Treatment – Removal of blue oxidation on copper is important. Brush lightly. Wear mask. 4
Before Treatment – Or Sometimes Full of Wet Corroded Muck! 6
Before You Start – Supplies and Tools 7 Safety Glasses Vest Cup of Water Coveralls Gloves Mask Multiple Rags
Before You Start – Supplies and Tools Non Sparking Brass Scrapers & available at Grainger 8

Before You Start – Supplies and Tools 11 To Speed Up Spraying – We recommend using a Milwaukee Sprayer Model A. If you plan to use, you will need portable air supply. Sprayer is used for final coat of 24/7 Plus - Corrosion Inhibitor and Lubricant. If no sprayer is available, product can be brushed.
Before You Start – Supplies and Tools 12 One Pint of Iron Ox Steel Curtain Per STP Motor & Assembly One Can of Iron Ox 24 / 7 Per STP Motor & Assembly
Before You Start – Supplies and Tools 13 Six to Seven Feet of ¾ or 1 PVC Pipe for each sump. + PVC cutting tool
Before You Start – Supplies and Tools 14 One Iron Ox Vapor Emitter Bulb and Four 6-8 plastic tie wraps per stick
Typical Station View 15 Barriers set with cones and tape
Open Lid Safely / Remove Water 16 Ventilate Sump Area - Expose Air. Remove any water bottom with rags or hand pump.
Check with Safety Manager for Company Policy and Gear For Confined Space Entry. 17 Any power tools used should be UL approved & Intrinsically Safe
Removing Rust with Brass and Plastic Scraper and Brush 18 Debris on floor can be removed manually or approve d vacuum Double Click If Necessary
Removing Rust with Brass and Plastic Scraper and Brush cont. 19 Just The Gross and Rust Scale – Ok to leave Surface Rust. Segment 2 -Double Click If Necessary
Post Scraping with all loose rust / flakes removed. 20 Wipe down with damp cloth after scraping to remove any dust / debris. Remove debris from floor with rag.
Rust Conversion Process with Steel Curtain 21 Apply Steel Curtain liberally to all metal surfaces in sump area with paint brush. Only metal components with rust will turn dark. One pint per STP assembly. Segment 1 -Double Click If Necessary
Rust Conversion Process with Steel Curtain 22 Two Coats Recommended. Wait 30 Minutes Between Coats. Be Patient! Let it dry. Segment 2 -Double Click If Necessary
Steel Curtain only affects areas with rust. No harm to plastics or other surfaces. No Polymer to interfere with future maintenance procedures. 23 Post Rust Conversion. Rusted Surfaces Have Turned Darker.
Apply 24/7 Plus Corrosion Inhibitor Treatment With Sprayer @ 80psi + Two Coats. Apply first coat with paint brush on all Metal components. Wait 20 -30 minutes. Apply second Coat with from sprayer with wide mist pattern from above the STP. Use entire contents for one STP / Leak Detector. 24 Double Click if Necessary

Vapor Emitter Stick 28 Attached Vapor Bulb to PVC Pipe. Make sure bulb is as close to lid as possible. Lean or tie in place. Mark date on bulb and replace with new one in 6 months. Throw away old bulb. Non Hazardous.
Maintenance and Inspection 30 Wet Look will wear off first. Expect darker colored components. 24/7 Corrosion Inhibitor will eventually wear off due to environment.
Maintenance and Inspection 31 We recommend repeat treatment in six months at time of vapor bulb replacement. 2 nd Treatment will be much easier, less labor than first. Wipe down copper tube with 24/7 at every opportunity.
