The woodland Indians lived in longhouses that held 20 families. Longhouses where made with bark covering saplings. A wigwam was another kind of woodland home. It held just one family.
The woodland Indians wore breechcloth, dresses, leggings, and moccasins.
The Woodland Indians ate rabbits, squirrel, fish, deer, and the three sisters. They were good at hunting turkey and game. They fished eels and fish.
The Woodlands were the first to meet the Pilgrim settlers from Europe. Without Sqaunto, the pilgrims probably wouldn't have survived. The history of Thanksgiving started in the Northeast. False faces were important in healing ceremonies. Men dressed in masks carved from trees and sang chants over the ill to scare the evil spirits away.
