3 Historical Look at Peabody November of 2005 – District approved a nearly $40,000 grant for a new laptop Dell lab at Peabody. Previously one of the most outdated technology labs in the district. August 2006 – May 2007 – my first year as a principal and first year at Peabody. Technology was not a focus. Technology teacher also brand new to position and to the building. Did begin to look at potential grant sources and brought another SMART Board into the building – placed in teacher classroom. Began to look at modeling the use of technology with staff to create interest. Wireless LCD projector and laptop into staff, PTO and PAC meetings. August 2006 – May 2007 – my first year as a principal and first year at Peabody. Technology was not a focus. Technology teacher also brand new to position and to the building. Did begin to look at potential grant sources and brought another SMART Board into the building – placed in teacher classroom. 4 August 2007 – May 2008 – formed our first Technology Committee. Worked with Dan and parent around a nearly $100,000.00 proposal to bring LCD projectors, document cameras into every classroom. While this did not come to fruition – PTO did raise excess funds and gave $8,000.00 (along with 2 family donations) to put white board skins, projectors and document cameras in 1-5th grade classrooms. 2 additional SMART boards were purchased. 6 Technology is used as a tool to further students learning. This is evidenced in classrooms throughout the school and on our website. Staff use a variety of technology and tools to enhance student learning and communications with parents.

9 Smart Board Teachers and other staff use Smart boards to enhance the curriculum and engage students in their learning. 12 Document Cameras Teachers and students use document cameras as a tool to enlarge texts for focused instruction, to demonstrate new skills, to share student writing for lessons, read alouds, experiments, and other learning activities projected onto the white board or Smart board. 21 Computer Lab Sonja Lahana, Computer coach and technology teacher assists students with learning powerpoint, excel, accessing the internet for research, graphic organizers, math games, reading resources. Tech tickets to acknowledge progress made and accomplishment of personal goals in technology. These are mounted on a board outside the lab for the school community to see.
