2 Mrs. DeSloover Grade Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy 2016-2017
Subject ELA Grade 7/8 Mrs. DeSloover Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy * My expectation is that ALL assignments be completed and turned in on time. If an assignment is turned in and is not complete, the student will receive that assignment back to complete for late credit. There is a 25% penalty for students who are 1 day late with the assignment. After day 2, the penalty jumps to 50%. Because I do not believe in assigning work that I don’t feel is important, I will accept late work for half credit until the last day of the grading period. However, to avoid these penalties, please turn all work in completed and on time. * YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. It is the student’s responsibility to check the class Absent Board as soon has he/she returns to class. * A student has two extra days to turn in any work assigned on a day a student was absent. If a quiz was administered on a day a student was absent, the quiz must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns. Technology Chromebooks will be used frequently in Language Arts. Students are expected to abide by all school and district digital safety rules and guidelines. Failure to do so will result in said student being banned from technology while in Language Arts. Plagiarism Cheating Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own. In this class, plagiarism includes... 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) 3. including a source but failing to cite it 4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment. * The teacher will notify the administration and contact parents if cheating / plagiarism is suspected. * The student will be given a zero for that particular test or assignment. * Further consequences may be given. I, ________________________________________, have read and understand the rules and expectations for Language Arts. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to contact my teacher if I have any questions or concerns.
