AERIES will be updated bi-weekly. Parents and students are strongly encouraged to check the Aeries Parent Portal on a weekly basis to view the most current grades for EVERY class.
Rules
1. Warning: the teacher provides a verbal reprimand/reminder to student
2. Parent contact: teacher contacts parent to discuss behavior.
3. Referral to Counselor/Administrator: a student will be immediately referred to administration for severe behavior problems, breaking the AVID contract, etc.

Absentee Policy
* My expectation is that ALL assignments be completed to a level of proficiency (70% or higher) and turned in on time. If an assignment is turned in but proficiency is not demonstrated, the assignment will be returned to the student and the work must be completed / redone until proficiency is achieved. The assignment will not receive a grade until proficiency is earned.
* Please utilize the student planner to organize upcoming due dates and to manage your time.
* Printer and Internet issues are not an excuse for late work.
* YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. Everyone misses a few days here and there. Please plan to utilize , google classroom or a peer to stay connected when absent.
* A student has one day for every absence (does not apply to truancies) to turn in any work assigned on a day a student was absent. If a quiz was administered on a day a student was absent, the quiz must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns.
Technology
Chromebooks will be used often in the AVID classroom. The majority of class assignments, projects, and assessments will be completed digitally through the Google Classroom. Students are expected to abide by all school and district digital safety rules and guidelines. Failure to do so will result in privileges being suspended.
Plagiarism
AVID 10 Standards
Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own.
In this class, plagiarism includes...
1. turning in another’s work as one’s own
2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class)
3. including a source but failing to cite it
4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own
Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment.
