2 Coach Sanders 6 Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy 2016-2017
Social Studies 6 Coach Sanders Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy * My expectation is that ALL assignments be completed to a level of proficiency (70% or higher) and turned in on time. If an assignment is turned in but proficiency is not demonstrated, the assignment will be returned to the student and the work must be completed / redone until proficiency is achieved. The assignment will not receive a grade until proficiency is earned. * Students who are missing assignments or who are turning in missing assignments will be places in ICU until the assignment is complete to proficient. * YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. When you are absent, you are responsible for getting missed work. * You will not be placed on the ICU list for any missed assignments due to being absent. You will be on the ICU list, and parents will be contacted if assignments are not completed Technology Students will NOT be allowed to use their cell phones while at school unless it is for instructional purposes directed by the teacher. Chromebooks and the Student Computers will be used to complete some assignments during class. Students will need access to technology to read some assigned articles throughout the school year, if you can not access the articles digitally it is the students responsibility to ask the teacher for a hard copy of the article. If students are caught disregarding the schools policies on technology in the classroom they will lose their privileges in social studies. Plagiarism Cheating Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own. In this class, plagiarism includes... 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) 3. including a source but failing to cite it 4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment. * The teacher will notify administration and contact parents if cheating / plagiarism is suspected. * The student will be given a zero for that particular test or assignment. I, ________________________________________, have read and understand the rules and expectations for Language Arts. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to contact my teacher if I have any questions or concerns. I know that this syllabus, assignments, calendars, and resources are available to me on Planbook, Haiku, and the Google Classroom at any time. I know that assignments can be submitted digitally at any time and that printer/computer/flash drive issues are not an excuse for late work. I understand that there will be a quiz over the information on this syllabus to ensure I read and understand the rules and expectations.
