2 Student assignments Absentee Policy Late/incomplete work Technology
YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. It will be the student’s responsibility to check the class assignment board (Remind101 and Edmodo) to find any assignments missed immediately upon returning to school. MDCPS rules/timeframe for completing and turning in make-up work will be followed. Please note: If you were in class the day before a test or quiz was given, then the test or quiz must be made up within ONE WEEK. Failure to complete make-up work will result in a zero (“Z” in the gradebook) for that assignment, test, quiz, etc. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns. Students MUST take notes during instruction including all examples reviewed on the board. Classwork will consist of various examples from the day’s lesson. Home-learning will include a reflection of the lesson in their Math journal. Any work not done in pencil will receive an “F”. Any work turned in without your name will receive a “Z”. Late/incomplete work My expectations is that ALL assignments be completed to a level of proficiency (70% or higher) and turned in on time. Parents will be contacted if missing assignments become a repeated issue. Printer and Internet issues are not an excuse for late work. Technology Computers will be used in class. The majority of class assignments, projects, and assessments will be completed during class time. However, a technology component will be completed at home. Students must take care of the devices utilized in class, otherwise their privileges will be revoked. Students are expected to abide by all school and district digital safety rules and guidelines. Failure to do so will result in said student being banned from technology while in Math class. Cell Phones should be kept in students backpacks. Devices should not be out during class, unless otherwise instructed by the teacher or with permission. Edmodo, Edgenuity, Khan Academy, and i-Ready are all accessible via the student’s portal. These programs will be used to review, remediate, and practice. Weekly i-ready grades will be given based on 45 minutes of completion and 70% passing score on quizzes. CHEATING A = – Outstanding B = – Good C = – Satisfactory D = – Minimal F = < 1.0 Unsatisfactory Z in the gradebook means an assignment was not turned in and counts the same as an “F”. X in the gradebook means the student was excused from that assignment and is not counted. Student will receive an “F” if the assignment is turned in with no work shown. Class progress reports will be sent home quarterly, with the student. Failure notices will be sent home if the teacher foresees that the student is in danger of failing the grading period. It should be signed by the parent and brought back to the teacher. Parents and students are strongly encouraged to check the Student / Parent Portal on a weekly basis to view the most current grades for EVERY class. Substitute Coverage: You are to show respect. Classwork as usual. This is not play time. Any assignment not completed will receive a grade of ZERO. Any misbehavior will result in disciplinary action (s). In this class, cheating includes... 1. Turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. Copying work from a friend. 3. Letting someone copy your work. 4. Having someone do you work. 5. Using online tools to complete work If cheating/plagiarism is suspected, the student will be given a ZERO (“F”) for that particular assignment and parent will be notified.
