Greek Mythology Assignments October 12-16, 2015 Monday & Tuesday: ELAGSE7W7: Conduct short research projects to answer a question, drawing on several sources. ELAGSE7W9: Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research. Prior Knowledge: (Classwork Grade) Take the Pre-Test – write your answers in PENCIL Read “What is Greek Mythology?” As you read “What is Greek Mythology,” write any answers you learn into your Pre-Test chart in PEN (There should be a visual difference between the information you already knew and the information you learned). Computer Research: (Classwork Grades) Go to the Webquest: Complete Activity 1: #’s 3-4 – Complete the “Guide Questions” Sheet Complete Activity 2: #’s 1-3 – Complete the “Minor Gods and Goddesses Scavenger Hunt” You will have to write these answers on the back or on another piece of paper. Assignment 2: Choose between Options 1, 2, 3, or 4 (Quiz Grade) Option 1: Greek gods and goddesses with written assignment Option 2: Exploring Greek heroes with written assignment – MUST complete with computer Option 3: Minor gods and goddesses– Drawing & Written Assignment Option 4: Develop a god or goddess – Written Assignment *Assignment #2 – Grading Rubrics are underneath the Evaluation tab on the webquest Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday: 1. Finish Assignment #2 (from Monday & Tuesday): Choose between Options 1, 2, 3, or 4 2. Complete the Vocabulary assignments Human Character Traits from Greek Myths: From the red Literature Textbook: Read 3 of the 4 stories of your choice and complete the “Characterization” chart for EACH story identifying the human traits that the gods display. (Classwork grades) Prometheus – Pages Orpheus & Eurydice – Pages (may also use poem on page 643) Icarus & Daedalus – Pages Phaethon, Son of Apollo – Pages 4. Complete the 2 short answer questions (Quiz grade) 4-5 Sentences each Complete the Constructed Response assignment (Test grade) Use your 8-11 sentence Written Response Keeper (Say, Mean, Matter) ELAGSE7Rl1: Cite several pieces of textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. ELAGSE7Rl2: Determine a theme and/or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text; provide an objective summary of the text. ELAGSE7W1: Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence ELAGSE7W2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic, convey ideas, concepts, and information ELAGSE7W2:b: Develop the topic with relevant facts, definitions, concrete details, quotations, or other information and examples
