7 Dress Code Weather in Savannah can vary a great deal in early May. Check the weather reports for the coast before you pack. Average temperatures for that time of year are low to mid 80’s for highs and mid 50’s for lows You are encouraged to check the weatherchannel.com or similar site closer to the date for a current forecast. It does usually rain, and as I tell kids – we’ve spent too much time and money on the trip to sit in the hotel and watch it rain. If it rains, we’ll get wet. Rain gear is a safe bet.

18 Behavior Code All school rules apply on the trip. Discipline measures will be handed out if needed. The basic rule to remember is to have appropriate theatre etiquette while on all tours: this includes museums, walking tours, and trolley tours. We have a concern this year with student’s being rude to adults/teachers and talking while we are talking. This is NOT appropriate in the classroom, but will definitely NOT be tolerated on the tours. Docents & Guides should be listened to and shown due respect. They are there to educate and assist you during the given tours.

19 Behavior Code Chaperones should be listened to when requests are made, and those requests should be followed without question. Failure to follow directives will result in consequences. Students should not use vulgar or coarse language at anytime during the trip. When in museums or other venues, please be mindful of the fact that we are (a) guests and (b) not the only guests present. Students should be courteous to employees, as well as other guests. Keep talking to a minimum during self-guided tours and make way for other visitors to pass your group if necessary.

20 Behavior Code Students may not leave their hotel rooms after lights out, unless in the case of an emergency. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in your departure from the trip at your parent’s expense. At no time or for no reason may students of opposite gender enter each other’s hotel rooms. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in your departure from the trip at your parent’s expense. Students should keep their hotel room free of trash and half eaten food.

21 Behavior Code In the event of a fire emergency, students should evacuate the building and gather at their assigned bus for roll call. Elevators should not be used in a fire emergency, instead stairs should be used and students should file out silently. In the event of a weather emergency, directions will be given and students will be expected to follow and adhere to these directions for their safety. In the event of a medical emergency, students should immediately contact room chaperone, who will contact Mr. House, Ms. Tumbleston, or Nurse Sanders will be called in the event of a life threatening emergency.

22 Student Behavior Policy Sign-Off
I ____________________ have heard the rules and regulations as they apply to the 8th grade Savannah fieldtrip. I understand that failure to follow these procedures will result in disciplinary action, including missing events or venues. Severe infractions including fighting, sneaking out after bed check, or entering a room of an opposite gender will result in immediate removal from the trip. I understand my parents will be asked to come to Savannah to pick me up and take me home. I understand that I will wait at the hotel with a chaperone until such time as my parents arrive. At my parent’s request, I may be put on a flight back to Atlanta at my parent’s expense. I further understand that failure to follow the rules may result in additional disciplinary action upon return to school, ranging from detention to OSS.

23 Student Behavior Policy Sign-Off
I also understand that I am a representative of Lovinggood Middle School, and as such will dress and behave in a manner that will reflect positively upon the school and the teachers present. I will adhere to the dress code provided for the trip, and will ensure that my clothing properly fits my body (i.e. no sagging, bare mid-drifts, rear ends, or cleavage). If I choose to wear a hat or visor, I understand that it will be removed upon entering any venue and will remain off until we leave that venue. No hats will be worn at meals (with the exception of the boxed lunch picnics and CiCi’s Pizza Picnic). I understand that student conduct should reflect appropriate school ethics, and students should behave in a positive, appropriate manner. Use of profanity or other expletives will not be allowed. I understand I should not act out in any manner that would not make my parents proud.

24 Savannah Assignments – The Scrapbook
All students will complete the Savannah assignment scrapbook during the trip. This scrapbook will be due to the student’s social studies teacher by no later than Wednesday, 5/16/17. Connections Assignments are due to your Connections teacher by Wednesday 5/16/17.

25 Savannah Assignments – The Scrapbook
All students attending the trip shall complete all assignments, regardless of course load. The work completed in Savannah will take the place of class work missed while on the fieldtrip. The only exception is that any projects/tests will be expected to be turned in and/or made up.

26 Savannah Assignments – The Scrapbook
The students should have the scrapbook with them at all times throughout the trip. They will be expected to complete assignments at many of the venues. They should collect an artifact at each venue and take pictures (that they can actually print) throughout the week. Additionally, they will complete a reflection journal piece each evening. The scrapbook is organized by days and the itinerary is provided at the top of each day’s entry to ensure that the student knows the plans for each day. They are expected to be on time and prepared for that days events.

27 Savannah Assignments – Your Scrapbook
Assignments will link to the curriculum for either science, social studies, math, reading/foreign language, and/or language arts. The assignments will be placed in the scrapbook in order by the day’s events so that students don’t have to flip back and forth to locate materials needed each day. The scrapbook scores will vary per class. Individual grades will be taken by science, math, and reading/foreign language teachers, as well as connections teachers for work missed during the week.
