1 Welcome to the Macon County GIS Online Mapping help page

2 Before we start looking at the online mapping there are a few links you should be aware of.

3 Contact Information Click names in red for email. Downloadable Links Click image of map to go to online mapping site. Now lets go to the online mapping site

4 First there are a number of searches available with the website. 1.Select drop down for field you would like to search. We have Parcel ID, Owner Name, Old Taxid, Subdivision and Address to choose from. 2.Put the entry in the search box then click search.

5 There a number of tools available on the site. 1.“Zoom in & Zoom out” 2.“Pan Tool” 3.“Full Extent Tool” 4.“Back & Forward Extent” 5.“Magnifier Tool” 6.“Identify Tool” 7.“Measure Tool” 8.“Overview Map Tool” We will come back to these tool again later and show how they each work.

6 1.The results of the Parcel ID search are in the results window shown here. 2.Click the “+” by the owner name it will expand to show tax information on the property.

7 1.Under “Tax Information” for the property there are two clickable results in blue. 2.Click the “DEED_BK_PG” link and go to the Deed. 3.Click the PIN link go to the “Tax Department’s Base” site.

8 1.For the property page you can see there are a number of links on the left side. 2.Also, on the bottom of the page as well. 3.Links of interest might be; "Property Card" (info like sq. ft. & yr. built), "Image" returns a photo of an existing structure, "Collections" shows all the related tax bills and paid/not status. 4.Now back to the map.

9 Map Contents 1.The Map has all the layers listed under map contents. They may be turned on/off as needed. 2.The layers can be "expanded" as well to show more data. 3.The next slide will turn some layers on and off to show a different look.

10 Turning Layers on and off 1.Here the "Tax and Boundaries" layers are turned off by unchecking the box. 2."911 Structures", "Fire Hydrants" and the "Aerial Imagery" are checked on. 3.The property on the map is still highlighted in blue. 4.To unhighlight it, uncheck the box in the results window.

12 Owner Name Search 1.Click “Owner Name Search” (last name first) 2.If you get more than one search result… 3.Right click on the desired result and a box will appear here. 4.Click “Zoom to” - the map will zoom to the result. 5.Note: When entering owner names don’t use any commas and type the name as it appears on the deed.

13 911 Address Search 1.Click on the “911 Address Search”. 2.Fill in the search box with the address. Number needs to go before the road name. This is not case sensitive. 3.Click ”Search”. You may get multiple results. If so, scroll the results to the desired one, right click and click “Zoom to”. 4.Notice a red push pin showing the result on the map.

14 Tool Bar 1.Zoom in & Zoom out – You can use these tools by clicking or drawing a box around your desired location with your mouse to zoom in or out. 2.Pan Tool – Is to be used for moving the map. Use this tool to drag the map to see other areas. 3.Full Extent – Click this tool to bring the map out to full extent. 4.Back and Forward Extent – Click these tools to go forward or back to a previous extent. 5.Magnifier Tool – These tool is to used on the hard to read areas. Click it and move it to the desired location to magnify the map. 6.The last three tools we will show some examples of them

15 Identify Tool 1.Click the "Identify" tool for Tax info, and Fire District or Township information. 2.Click the desired property or location and this box will appear. 3.Click the down arrow to display this box with the tax information. 4.(Notice that "PIN" and "Deed_BK_PG" are available live links)

16 Measure Tool 1.Click on the "Measure" tool and this … 2.Box will appear. 3.Here there will be three functions; "Point", "Line Distance", and "Area". 4.Click the "Point" feature, then click anywhere on the map to get XY co-ordinates. 5.Click the "Line" feature to measure a distance. 6.Click the "Area" feature to measure an area in sq. feet, acres, sq. miles and more. Just draw a box with the tool.

17 Overview Map 1.Click the "overview" map to show the location within the county. 2.Click on the tool and this box will show the location. 3.Notice the red box in the window, zoom in and out to notice the box getting smaller or larger.
