3. Idea My Family has lived in the Detroit area for many years and are hard workers, but always up for fun.

4. Her mother Sofia Szelabot immigrated from Poland by ways of Ellis Island in 1921. Sofia (my great great grandma) was 19 when she came to America. Her ship was Manifest Aquitania.

5. -Government Purchased Ellis Island from New York in 1808. -Only 2% of Immigrants were actually deported. -If immigrants papers were in order and they were in reasonably good health, inspection took about 3 to 5 hours. But they could be detained for days.

6. She moved to Detroit (northeast of Hamtramck) got married and settled down with family.

7. Had 3 brothers. Rich (younger), Eddie and Al (older) Eddie served in the army and Al in the Navy. 12 and 13 year age difference between two older bothers. 2 year difference between younger. Very close with aunts uncles and cousins.

8. Basically her whole family worked for the car industry. Her mom and dad worked at Chrysler, and her uncles worked for Dodge. --Many women working in factories was a new thing during WWII. (Rosie the Riveters)

9. Kids help a lot around the house. Respected elders. Family was brought up strict catholic. Went to catholic school (Our Lady Help of Christians). --Held polish mass.

10. She went to dodge park every weekend with her cousins. During the summer they would swim, play basketball, canoe, and horseback ride. In the winter they would ice skate.

11. Went to movies with little brother almost every weekend around noon. 12cents for kids 25cents for Adults. (on Wednesdays adults got a free plate). Saw 2 full movies, 5 cartoons, a cereal, and a news reel (usually on the war). News Reel

12. Handkerchiefs crocheted by great grandma, worn in front pockets.

13. My family came a long way staying successful through it all, while still having fun. The close family tradition still holds and everyone remains in Michigan.
