5 5 Show Some Love How do you Show Some Love? – Volunteer – Donate – Get others to join you What’s your favorite cause? Why do you support that cause? How do you feel when you give?

6 6 Your Role Coordinator Plan, organize, train and recruit Key Workers for your Agency Campaign Distribute campaign materials Organize events in collaboration with your Loaned Executive, include charity speakers Collect pledge envelopes from key workers and get them to your Loaned Executive Track results on the Nexus pledge site Key Worker Help with setup and execution of CFC events at your site Communicate the purpose of the CFC, needs of charities, and the many benefits of giving (Tell them how you Show Some Love) Personally contact each employee you serve and tell them about the CFC. Plan follow-up visits to employees on vacation and sick leave

13 13 Show Some Love Social Media Days September 14: Show Some Love Online Take a photo of yourself with the Show Some Love logo and post it to the NYCCFC Facebook page and your own social media channels with #ShowSomeLoveCFC. October 11: Show Your Cause Reveal the charitable cause(s) you are passionate about by posting a photo of yourself holding your own cause sign like the ones featured on the Catalog of Caring, or get really creative and dress in support of your cause (e.g. all pink for breast cancer awareness or yellow ribbon military support). November 1: Show Some Moves Challenge Post a video of your best dance moves or try the “Ellen Dance Dare” by dancing behind an unsuspecting bystander. Contribute to your agency/department getting the most posts by tagging your department/agency and including #ShowSomeMovesCFC in your video post. November 21: Celebrate Thanksgiving with a Random Act of Kindness Feeling thankful this week? Show it by completing a random act of kindness for someone else (pay the toll for the car behind you, bring a co-worker a cup of coffee, volunteer your time) and then posting about it.

15 15 Leadership Support Seek the support of your agency head, labor leaders and your direct supervisor Request an endorsement letter (email) (sample copy included in your toolbox) Attend your kickoff and deliver a speech to employees Make a CFC pledge and declare their favorite cause Be a visible supporter, participate in a Show Some Love photo day

16 16 Build Your Team Recruit a team of Key Workers to help plan and run the campaign – Make sure all divisions/departments are represented – Include people who have served with enthusiasm in the past – Encourage people who are new to the agency to join the CFC team. It’s an opportunity to get to know their co- workers while they have fun

17 17 Set a Timeline  Schedule your agency kickoff  Be sure to invite your Agency Head and include charity speakers and the CFC video  Make it fun, include door prizes, food, CFC banners, Show Some Love cause boards and other ideas we’ll talk about today  Schedule fund raisers, charity fairs and other events to raise awareness  Aim to complete the campaign before Thanksgiving

18 18 Create Awareness Use the Show Some Love theme to create custom messages Participate in the Show Some Love social media days #ShowSomeLoveCFC Invite Federation representatives to speak or plan a charity fair Include success stories in your newsletters and emails Use the sample emails in the coordinator tool box to create impactful messages Speak about CFC at all-hands meetings and holiday parties Post campaign information in common areas Show Some Love every day.

19 19 Schedule Follow ups What’s the number one reason people don’t give? Be Sincere! Make your donation first, then talk about how easy it was Discuss reasons for giving Encourage payroll deduction Remain available as a resource Ask givers to get their friends to give Say “Thank You” often Ask... Schedule weekly follow ups with Key Workers to turn in paper pledges and report on results

20 20 Have Fun Events are fun and provide a great way to bring people together  Have a photo contest with the Show Some Love cause boards and circles  Hold a chili cook-off, brownie bake-off or some other food competition  Have a trivia contest to include remote staff  Do a bake-off, walk-off encourage people to visit the bake sale and walk off the calories while supporting their favorite cause

21 21 Say Thank You Be sure to thank your CFC team. Keyworker certificates are available for download so you can recognize their efforts immediately.

23 23 Give Anywhere  The charity listing includes 4000 local, national and international charities  Donors may make a pledge to any of 20,000+ local charities that participate in the 125 CFC regions.  The complete list is available on the charity search at www.nyccfc.org www.nyccfc.org  This gives donors the ability to give to a local charity in another state. Ex. A donor can split their gift from a charity from their hometown and a charity in NYC.  You can search for and make a pledge to any charity using electronic giving.  You can make your selection on the paper form by entering the 5- digit code after doing an online search.

24 24 Completing Paper Pledge forms 1. Make sure it’s legible and contains the full name, employee ID and agency 2. Select an amount (left side is military and right side is civilian) 3. Enter the charity code and allocation amounts. Make sure the two sides balance. 4. Make sure the form is signed 5. Optional request to release their name to the charity. Names are only released if this section is completed

25 25 Completing the Report Form  The Key Worker report form should be completed by the Key Worker and submitted to the Coordinator with the pledge collection envelope  Separate parts 1 (white) and 2 (yellow)  Part 1 gets submitted to your agency payroll office if they are payroll pledges  Part 2 remains in the pledge collection envelope with cash and checks attached  Check the math and sign off when you submit the form with the envelope to your Loaned Executive (weekly)

26 26 Submitting Pledges to Payroll If there are Nexus pledges – Login and select my tools/payroll tools/process new pledges – Follow the steps to print the pledges – Send them to your payroll office along with paper pledge forms (part 1)

27 27 Volunteer Recognition CFC Innovator Award – to recognize outstanding efforts in one of three categories  Reaching new donors  Creating fun and educational events  Making donors feel special  All Coordinators and Key Workers are eligible  Nominations can be submitted by Loaned Executives, Agency Heads, LFCC Members.  Nominations can be for individuals or a team  Awards will be presented at the final campaign celebration
