5. Agreement with Object Pronouns  In the passé composé, the past participle agrees with the DIRECT OBJECT if the direct object (or object pronoun) appears BEFORE THE VERB. Nous avons gagné la compétition. La compétition? Nous l’avons gangée.  Indirect objects do not agree with the past participle in the passé composé.
