4. Rattlesnakes The rattlesnake is a really awesome animal who’s specialized structures help them tremendously so they can survive in the wild. All rattlesnakes are pit vipers, this means they have special pits that can feel heat. Even at night a pit viper can feel the heat coming off an animal.specialized structures The rattle of a rattlesnake is shaken as a warning to people and other predators, it means, “Back off before I’m forced to bite you.” Another important trait of rattlesnake is the ability to inject venom from an organ in its head through its hollow fangs and into a victim. Once a rattlesnake bites its prey, it does not go chasing after it. rattle The rattlesnake waits for the venom to take full effect, and then, since the rattlesnake has no teeth to speak of, it swallows its victim whole! This can take up to a few hours, and until the food is completely digested there is a small lump in the snake’s stomach.venom Rattlesnakes have quite a religious history too. Quetzalcoatl, one of the most important gods of the age, appeared as a feathered serpent. Because the serpent was the supposed lord of the land, and the legendary quetzal bird was lord of the air, the lord of both would appear as a feathered serpent. All in all, I think that the rattlesnake is one of the most fascinating creatures of all time.
