2 Player Equipment Requirements Individual Equipment – Stick – Dimensions/Strung in accordance with 2016 NFHS lacrosse rules – Posted rules to school fusion web site – Helmet (Black w/red chin guard) – Gloves (Black, Red, combination of Black/Red/White) – Arm pads/elbow pads (Team colors) – Shoulder pads – Athletic Cup – Attachable, Moldable Mouthpiece (must be colored and attached within face mask) – Rib pads (optional) – Goalie – (Chest Protector, throat guard (attached to helmet), and leg/shin pads (optional)) Rental Equipment – Potential of obtaining used equipment from former players. We will determine who has used BPHS equipment and send out contact information via e-mail list to enable contact with that family. – We have limited equipment for rental. Deposit check (not cashed) for cost of full set of equipment Rental fee for use during the season

3 Lacrosse Pre-season Workouts Conducting workouts on Monday -Thursday – Prepare physically and work on stick skills to ensure ability to perform well during tryouts. – Monday – Stick work – 4:00 – 5:30 – Band field (field usability) – Tuesday – Running and Lifting – 4:15 – 5:45 – Band field/Hill road (behind school) and weight room. – Wednesday – Stick work – 4:30 – 6:30 – Stadium Turf Field (Under the Lights) – Thursday – Running and Lifting – 4:15 – 5:45 – Band field/Hill road (behind school) and weight room. Attendance not kept. – If you are competing in another sport (basketball, wrestling, hockey, etc.) you do not have to make workouts. – If you are not competing in another sport, you are encouraged to attend. “Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance”

4 Lacrosse Tryouts Determine Varsity and JV teams – We have only 60 slots – 30 Varsity/30 JV 22 - 24 February – Establish player’s capability in: Individual, group, and team skills Lacrosse knowledge Field sense Drills will be used to evaluate each player – Standard line drills, clearing drills, etc. – 1v1 (Army)3v3 (Navy) – 2v2 (Navy)4v4 (Marine Corps) – Unsettled play (3v2, 4v3, 5v4) Grading sheets to be completed on each player.

5 Schedules Practice – – Outdoors -2:45 PM – 5:45 PM (M-F) – Pick-up time is NLT 6:15 PM. We will not leave until everyone has been picked up. – Indoors (Gym) Fields unplayable Safety – weather (lightning, etc.) All Spring teams leverage Gym over the hours available (2:30 – 8:30…usually one hour scheduled, but if a team does not use the time, we try to leverage additional time present. Usually every other day we have same schedule, and then we rotate to a different time the next week. At beginning of the season, we leverage the gym heavily on foul weather days. During later in the season, we may just run or lift and use only limited time indoors. Weight lifting – starting on 23 February – Tuesday 2:30 – 3:30 – Friday 4:30 – 5:30 Games – – VHSL - 14 games with two scrimmages Standard times 5:30 PM = JV; 7:00 PM = V See Fusion site for JV and Varsity after completion of first week of practice for game schedules.

6 Team Information Go to Team Page on BPHS School Fusion web site: – Team Rules Grades – Tutoring (if needed, get it!). Work through coaching staff. – Student first, Athlete second…get your homework done and turned in. Absences – Excused and Unexcused – Must contact a coach directly to receive an approved absence. – “I have a project I have to get done”; “I have a college visit I have to go on”, others… Being and Adult and How we talk to people – Coaches are not “dude”, Claiborne/Overman/Denno/Estrada/Stanford”…address us properly, i.e. Coach C, Coach Claiborne. – Accept responsibility for your actions, clean it up, and move forward. – Lacrosse information sheets/links/AD essential paperwork and documents – Schedule – Announcements This is one of our sources to pass changes on practice or game times/changes in location, etc. Team E-mail list – Mrs. Hayes School Announcements Text to Senior Leadership – Team Captain selection by Coaching Staff upon completion of first week of practice.

7 Grades/Eligibility -VHSL Rules: Cannot be failing more than 2 classes -Grades are taken at the semester (Ended Tuesday) -Players must be eligible at time of tryouts -Players can become IN-eligible during the season
