The acronym N.I.N.O. stands for “Nothing illegal nothing obscene.” In this class we cover many topics, but we avoid topics that are illegal for eighth graders like gory violence, drugs, alcohol, and more than one kiss (eww, you’re way too young). If you don’t know what obscene means, good for you. If you do, let’s just avoid those topics in here, okay? I almost never have a problem with this rule, but if you break it, you get one warning then you lose a citizenship coupon. Losing a citizenship coupon drops you one grade, H to G for example.

5. RULE #2-BE NICE

6. IF YOU FEEL THREATENED, YOUR AMYGDALA THINKS YOU’RE A LIZARD AND WANTS YOU TO RUN AWAY OR FIGHT BACK

8. When your amygdala is busy your prefrontal cortex has to take a back seat, and you need your prefrontal cortex to do school things, so… If everyone is nice, our amygdales will stay quiet.

12. HELP ME !!! My job is hard, but I really like it anyway. I am already the least interesting person in this classroom. If you are more interesting than I am, it makes my job of keeping students’ attention that much harder. You are not too worried if your fellow students don’t learn too much, but I am, so please help me.

15. When a pebble falls from your class’ jar, your class earns a day off. On a day off, you come to class, we watch a good narrative movie, you can bring your toys, and you can bring food that you don’t have to share. One thing you can’t do is use your phone to text.
