1 Different types of farming

2 DRY FARMING Dry farming is done in areas having rainfall less than 50 cm and very poor irrigational facilities.

3 HUMID FARMING Regions where there is plenty of rain-water for the use of agricultural crops, practise humid farming.

4 Irrigation farming Irrigation is required, when the natural supply of water is not sufficient for the proper growth of the crops.

5 Jhoom farming Land is left for a while after cultivation. The dries leaves are burnt and the ashes are spread over the field.

6 Plantation farming Plantation farming is related to the growing, processing and disposing of a single cash crop.

7 Multiple cropping These lead to rising of many crops from a single piece of land in a year.

8 Arable farming  Arable farming is the planting and harvesting of crops on arable land. Arable land is land that is "suitable" for farming.

9 Step farming Step farming is more commonly known as terracing. In agriculture, a terrace is a leveled section of a hilly cultivated area, designed as a method of soil conservation to slow or prevent the rapid surface runoff of irrigation water.

10 Intensive farming This type of agriculture implies maximum use of manures and fertilizers, crops rotation, use of high yielding variety seeds, scientific breeding and feeding of livestock.

11 Extensive farming This type of agriculture is generally practised in those regions, where land is extensive and population is sparse

12 Subsistence farming Subsistence agriculture is self-sufficiency farming in which the farmers focus on growing enough food to feed themselves and their families.

13 Mixed farming mixed farming is growing of crops and rising of animals on the same farm.
