3 Kansas Scholars Curriculum – pg. 8 Students who complete the Kansas Scholars Curriculum will receive a certificate from the Kansas Board of Regents and may be considered for scholarships through the Kansas State Scholars Program. 4 English 4 Math-Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and 1 advanced course 3 Science (Must be Biology, Chemistry, Physics) 3 Social Science 2 Foreign Language (Must have 2 years of one language)

4 Kansas Qualified Admissions – pg. 9 To be admitted to a Regents University as a freshman, students MUST meet ALL three requirements below: 1. Achieve one of the following: ACT score of 21 or higher; OR SAT score of 980 or higher; OR Graduate in the top-third of their class 2. Complete the Pre-College or Kansas Scholars Curriculum with at least a 2.0 GPA Qualified Admissions Pre-College Curriculum 4 English 3 Math (Algebra I or higher with an ACT Math Score of 22) or 4 Math (Algebra I or higher, with one taken each year) 3 Social Science 3 Science 3 Electives (must be from specific areas) 3. Achieve a 2.0 GPA on any college credit taken in high school

5 KU Admission Requirements – pg. 9 Complete the Kansas Qualified Admissions curriculum with a 2.0+ GPA AND meet one of the following: 3.0+ overall GPA and 24+ACT/1090+ SAT (math and critical reading, only) OR 3.25+ overall GPA and 21+ ACT/980+ SAT (math and critical reading, only)

6 Earning College Credit in High School: AP vs. KCKCC courses – pg. 10 Advanced PlacementKCKCC COST$91 per exam$93 per credit hour Transferring Credit Accepted by most universities; check with individual institutions for their AP credit policies Transfers to most state schools in and outside of Kansas. It is your responsibility to research this information. Please see your counselor if you need assistance. How Credit is Earned Achieving a score of 3, 4, or 5 on the AP exam in May Pass the course. Some transfer schools may not accept grade lower than a C. Amount of Credit Earned Depends on the score, higher scores can earn more credit or eliminate prerequisites. The number of credit hours assigned to the course, usually 3 or 5 credit hours.

9 PHS Schedule Change Policy: What you need to know… - pg. 5 You need to take this step of the process very seriously. The course change policy will be strictly enforced. Remember…If you COMMIT to a course and you are CAPABLE, you will be expected to COMPLETE the course. This includes year long courses. You will not be allowed to drop any course that is listed on your course request sheet.

10 PHS Schedule Change Policy 1. The student needs to enroll in a required class. 2. The student is enrolled in a class for which he/she has already received credit. 3. The student has not met the prerequisite for the class. 4. The student has an incomplete schedule. 5. A teacher recommends the student advance to a higher level course or that the student moves out of the course due to failure of 1 st semester. IF YOU WANT A SCHEDULE CHANGE TO REQUEST A SPECIFIC TEACHER, IT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

11 What happens next? 1. Fill out your enrollment sheet. Choose classes that YOU are interested in. 2. Discuss your choices with your parent/guardian. 3. On February 24 and 25 during your English class you will meet individually with your counselor to enroll in classes. 4. Please have your enrollment form with you.
