Chinese Pangolin Look at that face!! Manis Pentadactyla
Chinese pangolins are the only breed of pangolin with outer ears. Look at that face!! One of 8 species belonging to the order Pholodia. Mikecollection.wordpress.com Chinese Pangolin Manis Pentadactyla

From arkive.org From Pangolins.org Chinese pangolins live in many areas of south east Asia including Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Bhutan. They live in burrows made on their own or burrows formed by other animals.

Biotic factors Evergreen trees Tropical trees Bamboo Termites Ants Grass Flowers Shrubs Other insects leopards Abiotic factors Dirt Dead plants Dead animals Rocks Water Temperature Sunlight Limiting factors Small birth rate Human impact

rhamphotheca.tumblr.com Thestar.com Chinese Pangolins birth one young at a time The babies are born in the winter They can not leave the burrow until spring The offspring ride on the mother’s tail when they are young Females can have children after one year

Arkive.org Pangolins are a second level consumer. They chow down on ants and termites, similar to an Aardvark. Chinese pangolins have bad eyesight so they rely on sense of smell to find food.

10 Fun Facts Chinese pangolins can climb trees
Chinese pangolins are good swimmers Pangolins walk on their knuckles Pangolins can also walk on their hind legs Pangolins are nocturnal Pangolin can close their nostrils and ears to protect themselves from swarming insects Chinese pangolin in French is Pangolin A Queue Courte or Pangolin De Chine Chinese pangolin in Spanish is Pangolin Chino A pangolin’s scales are 25% of their total body mass Pangolin scales supposedly have antiseptic properties so people use them to scratch mosquito bites Zoochat.org

From news.mongabay.com I guess you could say the Chinese pangolin is so ugly it’s cute. These prehistoric critters have long and very strong claws that allow them to burrow into the ground and open termite nests. Pangolins have a sticky tongue that measures up to 40 centimeters. Chinese pangolins have a body length of cm, a tail length of 28-35cm, and a total weight of 2-7kg.

Darkroastedblend.com Pangolins.org Pangolins roll into a ball to protect themselves and their young. The pangolin scales are actually fused hairs. We can assume that these scales are an adaptation, along with their very large claws. From Sgforums.com

Zoochat.org Pangolins are hunted by leopards and of course humans.

Blogs.scientificamerica.org Ecologyasia.com Pangolins are heavily hunted by humans. They are known as an Asian delicacy. Also ground up pangolin scales are known to fight skin disease. Polls show that near every hunter in Vietnam sells every pangolin that they catch. Savingvietnamswildlife.org

From news.mongabay.com Arkive.org Bangladesh, India, china, Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam’s legislatures have set out to protect this animal. However protected sanctuaries are not enough to shield them from poachers. The act of illegally hunting and trading of Chinese pangolins still occur in large numbers. The worst part is that nobody actually knows the exact number of Chinese pangolins left… all I can say is that their numbers are declining.

From arkive.org Wti.org Pangolins are a butterfly creature. They eat tons of termites and ants, if they didn’t eat them those bugs would get out of control and over population would kill the insects. If the termites and ants die then the things that eat them like anteaters would starve to death. All the animals that eat anteaters would die out too. On the other side of this web leopards eat pangolins if leopards can’t eat pangolins then odds are the leopards in Asia would die too and the ripple keeps expanding. Result: nature is out of balance forever.
