3 The Douai Exchange Exchange with Institution Saint Jean (2000 students from 3 to 19 years of age) Girls paired with year 11 and 12 students Return leg

4 Administration own passport to be labelled (post-it) on the back cover EHIC These documents must be in the hand luggage Contract It must be signed and returned tonight Medical Form Please inform us tonight of any changes to the medical information held by school

5 Staffing Mrs Beaumont Mrs Thomas - staying at the Institution St Jean - contact details of French families and students - mobile phone: 07 955 619 096 Daily meeting with French colleagues to discuss any issues.

6 Departure Bibby’s coach company Skipton Girls High Bus lay-by Saturday 30th January 5.45 am. Hand in passport and EHIC Travel Sickness tablets / Medication Parent(s)/ Guardian(s) until student has boarded Small suitcase / holdall Comfortable travelling clothes Food / Money (Euros and Pounds) Departure at 6:00 am.

7 Journey Plenty of food and drinks (NO GUM, FIZZY DRINKS, GLASS BOTTLES) Entertainment (magazines, books, music…) Toilet stops Chunnel Crossing: 2.20 pm

8 Arrival in Douai ETA in Douai 6:00 pm. (5pm in Britain) Host families there to collect students. Weekend with host family.

9 Speaking French Students are expected to speak French to the best of their ability Key phrases handed out and recording on mySGHS

10 The weekend! Stressful (?) / need to be flexible & “adventurous” Most host families try and arrange activities that involve other English students.

11 Years 12 and 13 on work placements: Monday and Tuesday Nursery School / Primary School Dress appropriately and be punctual Have a go! Remember: you are members of staff (not pupils) Take some nursery rhymes/ pop-up books

15 Thursday Evening (years 11, 12 and 13) Meal at the School Bowling or another activity

16 Friday: Morning at School Morning with partners in classes Lunch at school 12.30: FAREWELL Chunnel crossing at 2.20 ETA at SGHS 11.00 pm

17 Conduct and behaviour NO passport and/or NO EHIC and/or NO contract and/or NO medical form = NO TRIP Impeccable behaviour in previous exchange trips; same expected this year Students to make the most of the experience. (The more they put in, the more they will benefit from the exchange.)
