9. The true black cherry is best eaten raw. There is considerable variation in the palatability of fruits from different trees. Fruits may be collected and then dried for later use. Or, fruits may be pushed through a colander to separate the seeds from the pulp. The pulp may be dried to yield a fruit leather, or used to prepare a jam or confection. A juice may be made by simmering fruits in water and then straining through cloth or jelly bag. Sweeten for a drink or prepare a jelly….or ferment!
