What do I do when someone makes me uncomfortable? Hey, that is not okay!

Harassment It is a big word Basically, it means that someone is bothering you: Over and over again or In a serious way or After you tell them you do not like it and ask them to stop

What does it mean? NO ONE should touch you in your private body areas. NO ONE should kiss or hug or touch you without your okay. NO ONE should ask you to keep secrets from your parents. NO ONE should show you pictures or tell you things that make you feel uncomfortable. NO ONE should ask you to show them parts of your body or show you parts of their body.

NO ONE? Yes, no one. Not other students Not teachers Not other kid’s parents Not anybody who works for the school Not family members Not strangers NO ONE

What Do I Do? Get away from the person who is bothering you. Find an adult you trust right away & tell them what happened. Tell your parents what happened as soon as you get home.

But what if I am worried? You are not in trouble when you tell We want you to tell when something makes you feel creepy– no matter what the person who is bothering you says It is our job to keep you safe It is your parents’ job to keep you safe

If it makes you feel uncomfortable, it is not okay It is against the school rules It is against the law There are people at the school who can help make sure it does not happen again. There are people who can help: Your teacher Your school counselor Your school nurse Your principal

Pass it on…… We have booklets for your parents that talks more about this. The school counselor or principal can give them a copy. This booklet is also on our school website for anyone to read. Harassment is against our school policy and against the law. The federal Office of Civil Rights helps with harassment complaints. Your parents should call your school principal if they have questions or want more information.
