11 Evaluation Judge the product Judge the process

12 Does It Work? Forces students to stop and think about the problem before diving in Focuses on using pertinent sources Can be used in the classroom or in the boardroom

13 My Two Cents Teach the steps early in students’ school career As problems get more complex, need to be able to adopt these same steps Perhaps the most difficult step is the first one, task definition.

14 BIG 6 LESSON PLAN Link http://www.lesliepreddy.com/Big%206/UnitSample.pdfhttp://www.lesliepreddy.com/Big%206/UnitSample.pdf  This unit includes 5 lesson plans over a 2 week period.  This specific unit involves 3 teachers in order to complete required tasks in three content areas: o Social Studies o Language Arts o Media/Technology  Throughout the unit, the teacher is acting as: o Facilitator o Guide o Time keeper o Research assistant o Note: When I found this on the web I decided to use it because she was using this as her paper and I thought she did a great job constructing it.

15  Evaluation of Lesson Plan Set-up Each lesson plan contains a Big6 Step label.  The label matches the activities within the lesson.  Various Activities: o Journal Entries o Small/Whole group discussions o Cooperative learning and research o Google Docs o Bulletin Board designing o Presentations Lesson 1:  Task Definition Lesson 2:  2 – Information Seeking Lesson 3:  3 – Location and Access Lesson 4:  3 – Location and Access  4 – Use of Information Lesson 5:  5 – Synthesis  6 – Evaluation
