4 STONEY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL SUPPORT THE TRADITION  9 th Year of S.T.T.  Unique S.T.T. in place of typical fundraising  Higher profit margin than selling something to families means more money for programs  S.C. staff uses payroll deductions to give over $8000.00 per year  Students are not asked to do door to door fundraising  Families are not asked to purchase unnecessary items  Your contributions are 100% tax deductible as a charitable donation  All funds run through the Rochester Community Schools Foundation

6 9 th Grade English Option #1: Language Arts 9

7 9 th Grade English Option #2 : HONORS Language Arts 9  Selection process includes application, assessment & writing sample  Summer Reading will be assigned  See current English teacher for Application to take assessment

8 Graduation Requirements: English 4 years/credits  LA 9  LA 10  11 th Composition & Literature  12 th Composition & Literature

9 9 th Grade Social Studies World History

10 Graduation Requirements: Social Studies 3 credits/years  World History-1 credit (9th)  US History- 1 credit (10th)  Government-.5 credit (11th)  Economics-.5 credit (11th)

11 9 th Grade Science Option #1: PHYSICAL SCIENCE

12 Option #2 : Physical Science/Biology Block  Students will have Physical Science 1 st semester for 2 hours & Biology 2 nd semester for 2 hours (4 semesters total)  Students must fill out an application for consideration!  Students need to have high marks in Algebra and Science in 8 th grade

13 Option #2 : Physical Science/Biology Block  Students should be taking Geometry in 9 th grade (future science classes require certain level math skills)  Have strong writing skills for lab write-ups  Students should consult with science teachers and current counselor to make sure it’s an appropriate placement

14 Graduation Requirements: Science 3 credits/years  Physical Science-1 credit (9th)  Biology -1 credit (10th)  Chemistry or Physics-1 credit (11th or 12th)

15 9 th Grade Requirement Math  If a student is successful in their current math class it is common for them to move on to the next math level in sequence  Math teachers will make recommendations!

16 Math Sequence Algebra 1 Geometry (or Honors) Algebra 2 (or Honors) Pre-Calculus (or Honors) AP Calculus/AP Stats

17 Graduation Requirements: Math 4 credits/years  Each student must minimally complete coursework through Algebra 2  A math or math related course must be taken in the final year of high school

18 Middle School classes for High School credit  High School courses taken in Middle School will count for High School credit  Courses will not be calculated into GPA  Examples: Algebra 1, Geometry, Spanish, French, and German

19 More Graduation Requirements Visual and Performing and Applied Arts  1 credit (2 semesters) – courses are listed on page 4 in green registration brochure

26 Course Description Book  Students were given a course description book, also posted on district webpage  Please keep this book for duration of high school career  Use course description book while creating a 4 year plan  Note prerequisites for certain courses including AP courses

27 Total Credit  Students need 22 credits to graduate  Students will earn 6 credits a year by passing all classes

32 Scheduling Process  March 21 st – Stoney Creek counselors visited Hart to present scheduling information to students  March 25 th – Counselors visit Hart during lunch for Q and A with students  March 28 th – Course selection cards due  April 11 th and 12 th – Stoney Creek counselors visit Hart and students will enter course selections in computer lab

33 Scheduling Process Early August – Registration packets mailed home August 24 th – Freshmen Registration August 25 th – Freshmen Orientation with Mentors August 30 th – 9 th Grade Parent Meeting September 6 th – First day of school, the journey begins
