13. Can ABA “cure” autism? No one can predict the extent of neurological damage in a child diagnosed with autism. Research indicates that 47% to 67% of children with autism who receive early and intensive behavioral intervention will learn a sufficient number of skills to be indistinguishable from their typically developing peers. –Fensske, Zalenski, Krantz & McClannahan, 1985; Lovaas, 1987; McEachin, Smith, Lovaas, 1993
