Which is which? Do you get confused with words ending in tion or sion? A quick way of remembering is if the word sounds like 'shun' then it will end in tion, if it sounds more like 'zhun' then it will end in sion. tion / sion

When to double letters at the end of words The final consonant of a word is often doubled when adding -ed, -ing, -er, -est in the following cases: Double final "b, d, g, l , m, n, p, r and t" at the end of words: rob - robbing sad - sadder big - bigger skim – skimming win - winner pop - popping prefer - preferred hit - hitting Double letters at the end of words

Words that end in E do not normally carry a short or long sound of E Rather it remains silent And gives its sound to the vowel before it in such words as: Hate Ride cube Bake Shire Mare lobe Silent E

10 The use of CK in words Ck may only be used after a single vowel that does not say its name at the end of a syllable or root word Example: Track Pick Rocket wreckage Ck usage in words
