Preventing Winter Injuries

Winter is an amazing season for outdoor activities. Taking part in winter activities and sports will help maintain your health, but injuries could spoil your fun!

Wear warm, dry clothing to prevent frostbite. Wear a tuque to cover your ears. Mittens are preferable to gloves. For your safety, wear a neck warmer rather than a scarf. Here are some safety tips for your winter activities…

Protect your head! Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, tobogganing, playing hockey, or just skating, always wear the right kind of helmet. Bike helmets are not designed for these activities.

Choose activities and places to play that are safe… As much as possible, skate on public rinks. Always sit or kneel on a toboggan.

Play away from roads, fences, and water. Stay away from snowplows and snow blowers Don’t build tunnels, which can collapse. Choose activities and places to play that are safe…

In closing… It’s better to be safe than sorry! Have fun safely this winter!
