WARM UP: LOG INTO THE LAPTOPS. HAVE INSTRUCTION/SAMPLE SHEET ON YOUR DESK~ FROM FRIDAY. READ SIDE BOARD PLEASE! VOCAB 11 QUIZ-BUMPING TO WEDNESDAY (DUE TO LIMITED COMPUTER TIME) + 5 FOR FLASH CARDS STUDY!! MONDAY, APRIL 11, 2016

MONDAY AND TUESDAY, APRIL 11-12: FIND 2 News (current events) Articles—Same Topic-- different newspapers, no more than three months old From The Houston Chronicle (or other city paper), The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and BBC (Europe)News; yes, YOU MUST USE THESE ON-LINE NEWSPAPERS!! Start with a BIG newspaper to find a good article; then once you have a topic and article, go to Chronicle or another city paper. Make sure it is NOT the exact same, word-for-word article the smaller newspaper picked up from the Associated Press. If time allows today, PRINT BOTH ARTICLES to library. I will send one person to grab several. It may be a zoo. We have time TOMORROW to search and print. If you want to do this at home once you have picked your articles, then do so! Print article straight from screen (right click and print). Do NOT copy and paste.

ONCE YOU HAVE PRINTED ARTICLES ON TUESDAY: TYPE your MLA Works Cited page using the following and SAVE it to your student locker: Last, First M. "Article Title." Newspaper Title [City] Date Month Year Published: Page(s). Print. Meier, Barry. "Energy Drinks Promise Edge, but Experts Say Proof Is Scant." New York Times 1 Jan. 2013: 1. Print.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13, 2016 Today…you’re making TWO 4X6 Annotated Bibliography cards. (quiz grade) due TOMORROW!! (one per article) Last, First, M. "Article Title." Newspaper Title [City] Date Month Year Published: Page(s). Print. 2 1 3

THIS IS A STUDENT EXAMPLE CARD(FRONT AND BACK). SHE COMPLETED A SECOND ONE ON HER SECOND ARTICLE.

FRIDAY, APRIL 15 1. TWO bibliography cards finished? Paper clipped to TWO articles? Find an appropriate graphic or picture to go with your news article topic. (not one already used by newspaper) Save it to your student locker. If you did not finish on Tuesday, TYPE your MLA Works Cited page using the following and SAVE it to your student locker: Last, First M. "Article Title." Newspaper Title [City] Date Month Year Published: Page(s). Print. Meier, Barry. "Energy Drinks Promise Edge, but Experts Say Proof Is Scant." New York Times 1 Jan. 2013: 1. Print.
