5 5 Regional Forum for CIS and Europe on Shared Use of Infrastructure as a Tool to Promote Development of Broadband Networks, 20-22 May 2014Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, Organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau in cooperation with the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Moldova This Forum aimed at sharing practical experience in in the field of shared use of infrastructure to promote development of broadband networks. 6 6 ASSISTANCE TO REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA Albania has requested for direct assistance in the following fields Migration from analog to digital terrestrial broadcasting systems including digital switchover; First expert mission concluded in May 2014 Spectrum management Design of a new monitoring system for the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) in Albania handed over officially in April First expert mission concluded in May 2014 ITU Capacity building workshop on information and communication technology (ICT) indicators; National workshop leading towards review of the national system of collection of ICT statistics planned for 4-5 June 2014 in Tirana Emergency communication Preparation of national survey to be followed by a the national workshop leading towards the development of proposals for emergency national plan. ASSISTANCE TO REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA Regional initiative on “E-accessibility in Central and Eastern Europe (Internet and digital television) for blind people and people with visual impairment problems”, BDT continues to accompanying the Administration in bridging the digital divide for the elderly people (with age related disabilities) in the rural areas of the country: support setting up a new centre and provision of specialized IT equipment. Guadalajara, PP-10) on “Assistance and Support to the Republic of Serbia for Rebuilding its Destroyed Public Broadcasting System”, BDT is donating a HL223 Log-Periodic Broadband Antenna 200MHz to 1300MHz with adapter for tripod HZ-1 N-female, including individual calibration to JP ETV. ASSISTANCE TO MONTENEGRO Montenegro has requested for direct assistance in setting up IXP Joint cooperation between ITU-ISOC-Ministry aims at establishing IXP in 2014 In addition capacity building exercise for national industry players is foreseen for September 2014 ASSISTANCE ON BROADBAND: Twinning between Poland and Moldova Twinning programme between Moldova and Poland led towards elaboration of a new legislation pack on broadband Twinning consisted of expert assistance, two workshops and one concluding meeting leading towards forwarding legislative package to the Moldovan Parliament for processing. 8 8 ONLINE SELF-DIRECTED COURSE ON AUDIO DESCRIPTION The regional initiative on “E-accessibility in Central and Eastern Europe (Internet and digital television) for blind people and people with visual impairment problems” In follow up to the accessible TV workshop we organized for Balkan countries in Zagreb last year, we are exploring the possibility of developing online training for European broadcasters in developing and broadcasting audio described content. REGIONAL CONFERENCE: TOWARDS MOBILE BROADBAND UBIQUITY IN EUROPE, 29-30 SEPTEMBER 2014, BUDVA, MONTENEGRO The twelfth edition of the Regional Conference “Regulatory Activity in Electronic Communications Sector“, this year focusing on mobile broadband ubiquity, within the framework of the Festival of ICT Achievements – INFOFEST 2014. Conference will be organized by the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services of Montenegro (EKIP) and Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). 9 9 ITU Academy Training: NGN, Future Networks and Cloud Computing, 27 May – 26 June This course will focus on NGN, Future Networks and Cloud Computing from technology, regulation and business aspects. It will cover the NGN standardization by ITU, including fixed and mobile broadband as basis for NGN, as well as NGN architectures. Further, the course will cover NGN services, including QoS (Quality of Service) and IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) for NGN deployments. Also, it will include VoIP (Voice over IP) and IPTV services over NGN, Internet of Everything (including Web of Things and Internet of Things), VPN (Virtual Private Networks) in NGN, IPv6-based NGN, migration scenarios from legacy networks to NGN, as well as business approaches and regulation for NGN. Further, the course will cover Future Networks as defined by ITU, including network virtualization, Software Defined Networking (SDN), and smart ubiquitous networks. Also, it will include Big Data issues, OTT (Over The Top) service providers (Skype, Viber, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) vs. Telco service models, impact of M2M in the future, as well as convergence of regulation towards Future Networks.
