3 Introduction The increase of the number of registered vehicles and the expansion of the city's transport network is continuously changing the safety level of urban public transport and requires constant monitoring of situation. In City of Zagreb daily runs 415 motor units that achieve an average of 99.597 kilometers and therefore any disruption in terms of traffic safety as expected, automatically disperses to all road users. Working days in tram subsystem runs 179 transport units, 124 on Saturdays and 105 on Sundays. The estimated number of tram units satisfy the capacity needs of passenger transport in normal conditions.

4 Materials and results of the analysis of tram accidents in the City of Zagreb Real state level of security is obtained through relative values, a weighting of the number of traffic accidents on 100.000 kilometers traveled and the number of traffic accidents on the average number of tram in traffic. From the obtained data can be read out values on the basis of which it can be seen that during the year 2011 the traffic accident occurred 1, 42 on 100. 000 kilometers traveled, as compared to 2010. year represents a decrease of 12, 89%. It was also decreased the number of traffic accidents on the average number of trams in traffic to 24, 67%.

5 Materials and results of the analysis of tram accidents in the City of Zagreb While the number of collision tram vehicles with tram vehicles is increasing from 6 to 10 events, the number of trams collision with other participants is reduced from 112 to 98 events, or 12,50%. Allision trams with motor vehicles is to reduce from 59 to 56 events, or 5.08%. The total number of traffic accidents called "other accidents" is in reducing from 45 to 29 events or 35.56%. There was an increase only in subgroup "fall of tram passengers", from 14 to 17 accidents or 21.43%.

6 Key results In order to increase the safety of passengers in trams is necessary to ensure the conditions for the smooth functioning of public transport. Thus reducing the incidental factor to a minimum. The greatest risk for traffic accident makes traffic area where the tram and other traffic types takes place on the same infrastructure. In such areas it happened 129 accidents or 70.49%. Analyzing months of the year led to the conclusion that a higher number of accidents happens in the month of November, compared to other months. The reasons for that are most often weather conditions while driving, as well as motor vehicle drivers unprepared for winter road conditions.

7 Discussion Measures of legislative priorities arising from the provisions of certain articles of legislation and regulations related to public transport passengers in trams. Legal measures are the main incentive for reducing the number of traffic accidents. Respecting the legal measures such as prohibiting driving a yellow ribbon intended trams traffic can greatly increase security. Failure to comply with legislative priorities wearing some kind of punishment, such as fines and, therefore, is a major boost compliance.

8 Conclusion A nalyzing all these data leads to the conclusion that the number of traffic accidents in the tram subsystem during 2011 in significantly reduced. The consequence is that the last few years the branch of the Zagreb Electric Tram invested in the modernization of the fleet in terms of acquiring new and quality vehicles, using which led to greater safety, comfort and quality of passenger in public transport. Besides the modernization transport vehicles it was worked on remediation of critical places, reconstruction of individual rail facilities and pavement surface, better coherence traffic light device, and good communication and cooperation with the traffic personnel.
