Los Mandatos Informales para “tú” (Informal Commands with “tú”) Use these commands when you are talking to one person.

Affirmative “tú” commands To form the affirmative “tú” commands for regular verbs, use the 3 rd person singular form of the verb (the forms for Ud., él, ella,). AR verbs will end with an “a.” ER and IR verbs with end with an “e.” Ejemplos: dibujar--¡Dibuja un bote! (Draw a boat!) comer--¡Come más verduras! (Eat more vegetables! escribir--¡Escribe la carta! (Write the letter!)

Una práctica: Wash the dishes! Decorate the patio! Read the book! Open the window!

Los verbos radicales (Stem-changing verbs) The stem-changing verbs will still have the stem-changes. Ejemplos: Think!---¡Piensa! Return at 2:00!—¡Vuelve a las dos! Serve the meal now!--¡Sirve la comida ahora!

Los Pronombres You have to attach any pronoun (reflexive, direct object) to the end of an affirmative command. You will have to add an accent to any verb with more than one syllable. Ejemplos: lavarse el pelo--¡Lávate el pelo! (Wash your hair!) acostarse--¡Acuéstate! (Go to bed!) Levantarse --¡Levántate!(Stand up!)

Los mandatos irregulares There are several irregular verbs. Write beside each verb what it means. hacer—hazponer—pon salir—saltener—ten venir—vendecir-di ir-veser--sé

Los mandatos negativos Negative commands are formed in a different way. Negative commands begin with the word “no.” 1. Think of the “yo” form of the present tense. 2. Drop the “o” and add “es” to ar verbs and “as to er and ir verbs. 3. Ejemplos: hablar—hablo—No hables (Don’t talk!) comer—como—No comas (Don’t eat!) escribir—escribo—No escribas (Don’t write!) hacer—hago—No hagas los tacos (Don’t make the tacos!)

Los pronombres With negative commands, the pronouns go between “no” and the verb. Ejemplos: Don’t sit!—No te sientes. Don’t get up!—No te levantes Don’t read it!—No lo leas.
