2. Principles of Design Movement: Shows actions, or alternatively, the path the viewer's eye follows throughout an artwork. Movement is caused by using elements under the rules of the principles in picture to give the feeling of motion and to guide the viewer's eyes throughout the artwork. Emphasis: The point of attraction in a piece of art that draws the viewers eye. If something in a piece of art has emphasis it stands out among other shapes, lines, and viewing points of the painting/drawing. Unity: The wholeness that is achieved through the effective use of the elements and principles of art. The arrangement of elements and principles to create a feeling of completeness.

3. Elements of Art Color : There are three (3) properties to color. First is hue, which simply means the name we give to a color (red, yellow, blue, etc.). The second property is intensity, which refers to the strength and vividness of the color. For example, we may describe the color blue as "royal" (bright, rich, vibrant) or "dull" (grayed). The third and final property of color is its value, meaning its lightness or darkness. The terms shade and tint are in reference to value changes in colors. Texture : The perceived surface quality. In art, there are two types of texture: tactile and implied. Tactile texture (real texture) is the way the surface of an object actually feels. Examples of this include sandpaper, cotton balls, tree bark, puppy fur, etc. Implied texture is the way the surface of an object looks like it feels. The texture may look rough, fizzy, gritty, but cannot actually be felt. This type of texture is used by artists when drawing or painting.

So, the Fauves came in and used bright, intense colors over the subtle impressionistic paintings.

5. Tell Me More! The Fauves were characterized by wild brush strokes, vivid colors, and flat work! Their work was simple yet very distract. Generally images featured landscapes in which forms were distracted. (Mimic nature and re-create the impression of light) Henri Matisse was one of the Fauves leaders. 12. Perspective Linear Perspective: When you use one, two or three vanishing point(s) to create the illusion of space. One point establishes a view point of directly in front of you. Typically it’s down railroad tracks, a road, hallways, etc.

14. Perspective 3 Point Perspective: Establishes a ‘birds eye’ or ‘worms eye’ view! This gets a bit more complex ;)

15. Atmospheric Perspective A way to illustrate space by changing the tone or value of objects: lighter in the background, darker as it approaches the ‘foreground’. Landscape Design should always include a foreground, mid-ground and background.

16. Your Landscape Can be urban city, neighborhood view, mountainous, woodland, etc. Needs to show Foreground, mid-ground, AND background! Must reflect a Fauvism style Must illustrate both Atmospheric AND Linear Persp. Must be done with Oil Pastel
