Renaissance Home Connect is... Connecting Parents and Extending Practice Renaissance Home Connect improves the school-to-home connection by allowing parents and students to log in to a website and view the student’s reading and math practice and progress towards goals. Access to online results promotes discussion between parents and students, which motivates students and can make reading and math practice even more effective. In addition, parents can specify up to six email addresses to receive automatic updates in English or Spanish. Home Connect Handout and Video available on Library Website/Accelerated Reader.

How to Access Home Connect Click Reports under Home Connect Print the letter in English or Spanish. Please send home letters by Oct. 1, 2013 The letter will have the students username and password Home Connect can be accessed anytime. Great tool for parent and students to see their progress Students and Parents can see what books have quizzes by using the AR Book Finder.

Zone of Proximal Development If a student continually scores between 96% and 82% then he is reading in his “ZONE”. ZPD is a range-use “Goal Setting Chart” to help determine the students ZPD. Non-Fiction books should be.5 to 1 year below the ZPD.

AR Portfolio: might include the Student Reading Log or Primary Student Reading Log – “Status of the Class” – ticket to take a quiz; TOPS reports; Student Reading Plan: Goal Setting and Reading Level Conversion Chart available on Library Website/Accelerated Reader Reading List Ideas: Battle of the Books, Caldecott Reading Challenge, Newberry Reading Challenge, Genre Reading Challenge. Six Levels of Certification: Certification Levels available on Library Website/Accelerated Reader AR Forms

Oral Accommodations Some quizzes are available with a recorded voice. You can see what quizzes have recorded voice under Accelerated Reader, then click Manage quizzes.
