6 Ambulatory Patient Referrals Create, update, monitor and electronically “send” referrals to other RIH Ambulatory Clinics. Easily accessed on the Lifespan Intranet. Timely and up to date information on the patient’s referral status Provides interested clinicians,quick and easy access to referral information, when needed. Reduces the amount of time and effort spent on faxing, placing phone calls and sending letters to initiate, or follow-up on patient referrals.

Real-time lab/radiology status and results.

8 M edhost-Patient Tracking Locator information: Per zone: Which patients are in which beds. Unoccupied beds Which physician is treating the patient. Which patient has not been seen by a clinician. Indicators for orders placed on the patient. (e.g. test tube icon for lab orders) Across zones: How many patients in the waiting rooms, in Radiology, in CT room, or coming inbound to the Emergency Room.

9 Medhost- Order Management Order Features: Able to view current orders and their status (e.g. ordered, canceled, returned) View lab results by selecting the results button. Icon adjacent to order name indicates the type of order. (e.g. pill icon for medications, bone icon for Radiology, test tube icon for lab orders) Physician can enter order via search, or by selecting an orderset. Triage nurse is able to enter orders using protocol ordersets.

10 Web-based Signout Web-based application that facilitates the communication of patient information from one resident to another. Replaces previously-used paper processes. Automatically loads medications and laboratory data. Log-in using lifespan email user name and password. Log-in determines individual census, which is modified by residents. Format, design and functionality designed by residents Departments will provide individual instruction on use.

MUST submit signed system access and confidentiality forms to activate! Outlook features (email, calendars, etc) are down-loadable to PDAs.

12 Remote Access via ASAP asap.lifespan.org Access to Lifespan network from any Internet-connected computer. email and all tools on the Lifespan intranet, including medical knowledge and data. ASAP access will not be enabled until your signed System Access and Confidentiality forms are received by IS. Protect ePHI; always log off!
