3. Genocide Case In South Sudan  South Sudan became the world’s newest nation in July 2011. War between the North and South sides of Sudan  The civil war between the north and south of Sudan resulted in the deaths of an estimated two million people and displaced an additional four million. 5. Finding a Resolution  On January 9, 2011, the people of South Sudan voted to secede from Sudan and form a new nation.
